2 years after we installed the DCEX6/8 the unit suddenly stopped turning on.  We called Stiebel South Africa and troubleshooted over the phone, then their representative happened to be in the area that day and offered to stop by to have a look.  In the end, it wasn't even a problem with the instant geyser at all, just a circuit breaker that became faulty and needed to be replaced. I had a Stiebel Eltron DHC 8 EL Instantaneous Water Heater installed, by a qualified professional, to provide hot water for a kitchen sink / single hot tap. The heater didn't heat the water sufficiently to wash dishes. After having other plumbers and electricians look at the installation, I contacted Stiebel Eltron after care. While not too pleased to have to pay for a Stiebel Eltron appointed technician to come out, the technician confirmed that everything had been installed correctly. He also, however, agreed that the water didn't seem hot enough. Stiebel Eltron then came over themselves - with a customer care representative and another of their own technicians. Both confirmed that while installation and operation of the unit looked correct, the water wasn't getting warm in enough. Without further ado, they replaced the heater with a new, better, Stiebel Eltron water heater that heats the water to 55 degrees, sufficient to wash dishes. While they have a few theories as to why the element of the original water heater was not performing to standard (potentially relating to installation), Stiebel Eltron did not hesitate to investigate fully, and replace the heater with a working - better - option, at no further cost to myself. I wish to recommend Stiebel Eltron product and service . Craig Smith went out of his way along with colleagues to repair a vintage S-E heater . No private electrician would assist .
